Summary:Objective To analyze and summarize disease and syndromes which can be treated by tuina therapy. Methods Using literature researching methods to analyze and summarize diseases and symptoms treated clinically by tuina in order to observe the therapeutic effects from Chinese Biomedicine Optical Disk Database (CBM) from 1978 to 2008. The frequency (number) of reported cases for each disease and syndrome was calculated. Results The list of diseases for tuina therapy included 365 kinds of 16 classifications, including 255 Western medicine diseases, 57 symptoms of Western medicine and 53 traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndromes. Conclusion Tuina is an effective and widely used therapy in the clinic.
