Mathematical Model of Formation of Rapidly Hardened Particles in Centrifugal Sputtering of Nd – Fe – B Alloys

A mathematical model describing the process of formation of rapidly hardened flakes from molten metal drops by centrifugal sputtering onto a cold rotating crystallization screen is suggested. An analysis of the sizes and shapes of rapidly hardened flakes of alloy Nd^sub 12^Fe^sub 80^B^sub 7^Ti obtai...

Summary:A mathematical model describing the process of formation of rapidly hardened flakes from molten metal drops by centrifugal sputtering onto a cold rotating crystallization screen is suggested. An analysis of the sizes and shapes of rapidly hardened flakes of alloy Nd^sub 12^Fe^sub 80^B^sub 7^Ti obtained in a "Tsentr-2" installation shows that the model is adequate to experiment.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
