Summary: | Selective hepatic artery angiography (figure 3A) was done to localise the cystic artery pseudoaneurysm, followed by transarterial embolisation with two platinum micro-coils of 2 mm and 3 mm in size (figure 3B). In the past, cystic artery pseudoaneurysm ligation and cholecystectomy were the only treatment options.6 The current standard of treatment in unstable patients with cystic artery pseudoaneurysm is digital subtraction angiography with therapeutic angioembolisation followed by interval cholecystectomy.7 Learning points Pseudoaneurysm of the cystic artery is a very rare entity that can also present with the rarest complication of gastric outlet obstruction. RK and SA were responsible for the investigation results and data analysis. |
