Summary:Clinical investigation of lumbar disc herniation has been made about 395 cases which were operated on. The results were as follows; 1) Disc herniation was mostly found in second and third decade male heavy workers in L4-5 intervertebral disc with chief complain of left leg pain. 2) Provocating causes were found in 52.1%. 3) As to the physical sign, restriction of movement, sensory disturbance and Lasegue sign were found in high percentage (about 80%). 4) Muscle weakness and decrease of tendon reflex were found in low percentage (about 40%).
