Summary: | We experienced a case of extraforaminal entrapment of the L5 nerve root at the lumbosacral junction. A 54-year-old man suffered from right sciatica and leg pain in the L5 nerve root distribution. He was completely relieved from pain after surgery for the decompression of the L5 nerve root. At the operation, the inferior part of the L5 transverse process, a part of the sacral ara, and the lumbo-sacral ligament were removed. Although the diagnosis of the extraforaminal entrapment is difficult, L5 nerve root block provided temporary pain relief, L5 nerve rootgraphy, and axial and coronal CT after nerve rootgraphy were useful for diagnosing extraforaminal stenosis at the lumbosacral junction. |
