Summary: | Phytoliths have been identifed in a sample taken from a large black lens of burned sand located in front of the main entrance of a temple at ed‐Dur (Umm al‐Qaiwain, United Arab Emirates). Comparisons with a reference collection allow the identification of the sample with Phoenix dactylifera L., the date palm. Attention is also drawn to the interpretation and symbolism of the date palm in southeastern Arabia during the late pre‐Islamic era. |
