Summary: | The electrophoretic mobility of the graphite dispersed into aqueous alkaline solutions (monovalent cations) was studied to elucidate electric charging phenomena of graphite, and the influence of cations (I) on the mobility of graphite was measured under the condition of thesame concentration of an anion (OH-).The order of the influence of the cations on the mobility was as follows: Li+>Na+>K+>NH+4>Cs+, and this order was the reverse to that of the ionic absolute mobility. Further, the electric charge in the alkaline solutions was negative, andOH-was the potential-determining ion on the surface of graphite with functional groups, such as carboxylic and phenolic groups. |
