Summary:The fabrication and characterisation of potentiometric chalcogenide glass electrodes with selectivity for iodide in aqueous media are reported. While such probes are already known for the determination of a number of cations using various fabrication technologies, this is not yet the case for anions. Specifically, the fabrication process of the novel glasses and their investigation by means of a number of physico-chemical methods as well as their fabrication into usable sensors and their testing are described.
