Summary: | Mandibular casts of 100 patients from the Orthodontics department , Saveetha dental college are to be taken and the mean collective mesiodistal width of the mandibular central incisors are calculated and compared with the littles irregular index value for that cast. Increased mesiodistal width may become a factor contributing to crowding only if the arch length and the maxilla and mandible posteriorly are very small as in Tooth Size Arch Length Discrepancy (TSALD) such that there is no enough space for the teeth to erupt. [...]the most probable cause for crowding could be decreased arch length, interalveolar width and intercanine width. The results of the current study suggest further investigation because no sex differences for the tooth width were observed and other factors for crowding has to be analysed. |
