Monte Carlo Simulation of the Target of the DARIA-Project Compact Neutron Source

In this paper, we use the Monte Carlo method to calculate the fluxes of neutrons emitted from targets of different geometry and composition under the action of a low-energy (13 MeV) proton beam. Summary:In this paper, we use the Monte Carlo method to calculate the fluxes of neutrons emitted from targets of different geometry and composition under the action of a low-energy (13 MeV) proton beam. The target is a thin beryllium layer with a thickness of 1–2 mm or a three-dimensional structure including beryllium, copper, and polyethylene. The energy spectra of neutrons are given. A comparison with the calculations of other authors is made.
