Summary:The procedure of extraction of three-dimensional distribution of velocity field from ADCP measurement data is presented in this study. Cross-sectional velocity distributions have been generally used to indicate three-dimensional feature of flow. However complex flow fields, generated by combination of a complex bathymetry, curve of the channel and river structure, are difficult to investigate only by using the cross sectional velocity distribution. In this study, anisotropic averaging and interpolation method is introduced to remove random component caused by turbulence of flow and random error of measurement. The continuity correction using pressure equation is also used to reduce both random and system errors. The validity of our procedure is confirmed by using three-dimensional numerical simulation result. Finally, by using our procedure, the complex flow around spur-dikes is explored.
