Summary:Field observations were performed to know the characteristics of tidal transports of nutrients and organic materials in a mangrove area, in which the concentrations of nutrients and organic materials, the amount of the surface floating litters and the litter fall rates in the mangrove forest were measured by using various devices. In the neap tide, when water is not flooding in the mangrove swamp, the organic materials are efficiently exported through creeks. In the flood tide, most of the litters provided by the mangrove forestsgo back and down between the estuary and the main channel, so that the organic materials and nutrients are flushed from the mangrove system mainly as dissolved or partticulate materials.
