Summary:The Grey Reef Shark Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos is a moderately sized and fairly stocky species widely distributed in the Indian and Pacific Oceans from Easter Island and as far west as South Africa. In this paper, the first record of Grey reef shark (single specimen female 126cm in Total Length (TL)), caught from the Lakshadweep Sea (10o47 N and 72o09 E) by drift long line operation at 40m depth is reported.
