Summary:Desmarais reviews A Century of Lawmaking for a New Nation: US Congressional Documents and Debates, an Internet resource available at http://memory/loc.gov/ammem/amlaw/lawhome.html. A Century of Lawmaking for a New Nation includes the Journals of the Continental Congress (1774-89), Elliot's Debates (1787-88), the Journals of the House of Representatives (1789-1875) and the Senate (1789-1875), among others. Also, this collection goes up to 1875 and includes only the first three volumes of the Congressional Record, for example. While there are some gaps, this is an extensive collection of official government records from the First Continental Congress through the 43rd Congress, 1774-1875.
