Summary:This study explored the experiences of 22 mental health counselors in Ciudad Juárez using qualitative analysis. Specific foci were their experiences related to burnout and the drug violence crisis; and interventions they used to cope with these experiences. The results highlighted the prevalence of trauma related services they provide, the lack of formal supervision they receive and need for increased training opportunities and overall support. Recommendations for binational collaborations and future research are discussed. Resumen Este estudio exploró las experiencias de 22 consejeros de salud mental en Ciudad Juárez usando un análisis cualitativo. Los enfoques específicos se centraron en sus experiencias relacionadas con el agotamiento y la crisis de violencia por drogas, así como en las intervenciones que usaron para afrontar estas experiencias. Los resultados destacaron la prevalencia de servicios relacionados con trauma que proporcionan, la falta de supervisión formal que reciben y la necesidad de oportunidades adicionales de capacitación y apoyo general. Se discuten las recomendaciones para colaboraciones binacionales e investigaciones futuras.
