Summary:•A tunable laser for wavelength tuning at 1011, 1035, and 1059 nm in Yb:GMBO crystal was realized for the first time.•The thermal lens focal lengths of the Yb:GMBO crystal in the directions of the Y and Z axes was calculated measured.•Dual-wavelength laser operating at 1035 and 1059 nm, 1011 and 1035 nm, 1011 and 1059 nm was obtained, respectively. The diode-pumped continuous-wave (CW) single- and dual-wavelength Yb:GdMgB5O10 (Yb:GMBO) lasers were demonstrated. The thermal lens focal lengths of the Yb:GMBO crystal in the directions of the Y and Z axes was calculated and measured, and the sizes of the wavelengths in the Yb:GMBO crystal was calculated for optimal mode matching between laser and pump beams. A birefringent filter (BF) was placed in the linear cavity for wavelength tuning at 1011, 1035, and 1059 nm, respectively. Among these wavelengths, 1011 and 1035 nm were realized for the first time. Additionally, by rotating the BF and changing the transmittance of the output coupler, the gain and loss of the emission lines were balanced, and simultaneous dual-wavelength laser operating at 1035 and 1059 nm, 1011 and 1035 nm, 1011 and 1059 nm was obtained, respectively.
