Length‐weight relationships and condition factors of 14 Oxynoemacheilus species (Cypriniformes: Nemachelidae) from Turkey

Length‐weight relationships (L‐WRs) and Fulton's, relative and mean condition factors were estimated for 14 Oxynoemacheilus species from Turkish river basins. Specimens were caught by electrofishing (SAMUS 725MP) in spring, summer, and autumn in the years of 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The wate...

Summary:Length‐weight relationships (L‐WRs) and Fulton's, relative and mean condition factors were estimated for 14 Oxynoemacheilus species from Turkish river basins. Specimens were caught by electrofishing (SAMUS 725MP) in spring, summer, and autumn in the years of 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The water depth at which the samples were collected varies depending on the station, but usually varies between 2 and 40 cm. Sampling was carried out using an electroshoker as standard at each station in the 100 m stream section. In the laboratory, total length (L) and total weight (W) were measured to the nearest 0.1 cm and 0.01 g, respectively. The lowest and highest values of b were estimated to be 2.727 for O. mediterraneus and 3.233 for O. cilicicus, respectively. The LWRs are not presented to FishBase for all species and are given in this study for the first time. In addition, the maximum length of all species studied is not available in any database. This is the first time it has been shown.
