Summary:An abstract of a study by Chondronikola et al investigate differences in diet between children with and without symptoms of asthma and atopy is presented. Results show that atopic children consumed less vegetables, and more sugar-sweetened beverages. Higher intakes of fruit and poultry were associated with a decreased risk for atopy. Due to the case-control design, no causation may be inferred. Finally, their findings require confirmation.
