Summary:Novel polymers with complex functions as emulsifiers and thickeners have been widely used due to their gelling capacity which allows the formulation of stable emulsion by decreasing surface and interfacial tension and also by increasing the viscosity of the aqueous phase. [...]emulgels have a high patient acceptability since they possess the advantages of both emulsions and gels. [...]they have been recently used as vehicles to deliver various drugs to the skin. The skin of an average adult body covers a surface area approximately 2m2 and receives about one third of the blood circulating through the body and the skin13 surface contains 40-70 hair follicles and 200-300 sweat ducts on every square centimeter of the skin. Both the oily and aqueous phases were separately heated to75ºC. Then the oil phase was added to the aqueous phase with continuous stirring until cooled to room temperature.
