Fine structure of lipotubuloids (elaioplasts) in Maha neglecta and Althaea rosea
The elaioplasts in the genus Malva, like those of Ornithogalum umbellatum are lipotubuloids, that means that they are aggregations of osmiophilic granules surrounded by a network of microtubules which in the lipotubuloids of Malva, are more labile than those of Ornithogalum.
