Summary: | Background. The number of healthcare workers in front line has affected by COVID-19 and some of them infected by COVID-19 since COVID-19 outbreak. Understanding healthcare workers experience is important to get their meaning and expression. Purpose. The purpose this study was to explore the experiences of health workers infected by COVID-19. Methods. A Qualitative phenomenological approach was carried out in this study with phenomenological analysis for interpretation data. Data were collected using in-depth interviews of 12 health workers who were infected by COVID-19 either during their treatment or after being treated at non-government hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. Results. We found five themes followed by fourteen subthemes. The themes were (1) The meaning of COVID-19 for her/his self, (2) The first feelings of being infected with COVID-19, (3) Experience of Clinical symptoms, (4) Experience of psychological and social disorders, (5) Experience in accessing health services. Conclusions. Health workers who infected by COVID-19 had some positive and negative experience. This research may provide a deep understanding about the life of health workers infected by COVID-19. Proper planning and support are important to reduce health workers’ problems both physical and psychological. |
