Summary:With the predominance of mobile and wireless connectivity and ubiquity of access, the field of Internet-of-Things (IoT) is gaining widespread prominence. Most modern day large scale systems are being designed in a IoT fashioned manner. Thus, reliability modeling and analysis of such services become essential. In this paper, we propose a novel reliability modeling scheme for a service-oriented IoT setup, wherein each device provides its functionalities as a service and also acts a router that can forward data to the other devices. In this paper, the service oriented IoT is modeled as a Centralized, Heterogeneous, IoT Service System (CHISS). The modeling efficiency of the proposed model has been demonstrated using the case study of a fire alarm system in a smart home/office setup.
