Summary:Reaction between 3,4-diethyl-2,5-dimethyl-2,5-dihydro-1,2,5-thiadiborol (1, R = CH ) and (C )Co(CO) yields the dark red. diamagnetic sandwich [(C )Co(1)] (3, 92%). With [(C )Ni(CO)] the green, paramagnetic complex [(C )Ni(l)] (4, 57%) is obtained which at higher temperature forms nickelocene and Ni(1) . 3 is easily reduced to the radical anion 3 . Neither 3 nor 4 can be stacked to give triple-decker complexes. The ESR spectra of the isoelec- tronic species 3 and 4 are reported.
