Summary:By using high vacuum spectrometer, emission spectra of carbon, arsenic and tin were investigated to find out the most suitable spectral lines in the wavelength region between 1250 Å and 2000 Å for the determination of these elements in iron and steel. The investigations were also carried out on the excitation of the spectral lines in various discharge conditions and on the relation of the intensity changes and the concentrations of the elements in iron and steel samples. The following lines were found to be most useful for the determination of those elements: Carbon : CI 1657.0 Å;, 1930.9 Å Arsenic : AsI 1806.2 Å;, AsI 1972.6Å Tin: SnII 1811.3 Å
