Summary:This chapter discusses some funding allocation models that focus on lowering disease incidence and the number of new infections. It looks at inventory allocation models in global health programs that focus on disease treatment and inventory allocation issues that arise in disease prevention and treatment programs. The chapter focuses on the location and service offerings of community health centers (CHCs). It presents analytical results regarding the impact of funding timing and funding uncertainty on the disease‐adjusted life periods lost. However, determining the optimal inventory allocation strategy is difficult for problems with more than two periods, so the chapter develops two heuristics that humanitarian organizations can use to make inventory allocation decisions. It also focuses on resources that are available to clinics to treat or address certain health conditions. The chapter extends the single‐clinic capacity allocation problem to a two‐stage allocation problem.
