Nontraumatic dens fracture in a patient with lymphangiomatosis: radiographic, CT, and MR findings

Summary: | Lymphangiomatosis is a rare condition characterized by benign angiomatous growth of lymphatic tissue. Bone infiltration may result in lytic lesions surrounded by sclerotic margins of varying thickness. We report a nontraumatic fracture of the dens in a female patient. Conventional radiographs and computed tomographic and magnetic resonance images are shown. The use of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging is highly recommended for investigating bone lesions of lymphangiomatosis, since, as occurred with our patient, conventional radiographs may not reveal all bone lesions in this disorder.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT] |
