Summary:This work represents the first stage in the designing of a ‘balance pattern’. This one is defined, with a balance instantaneous indicator (Bll) and a balance context indicator (BCl) taken into consideration, and from data provided by an original wearable plantar dynamics analysis system The present paper describes the features extraction method for the BCl, leading to definition of a set of descriptors. These descriptors are tested on a population of non-pathological subjects under normal and simulated abnormal gait conditions. The first results showed the feasibility of an automatic system for recognition of abnormal patterns related to dysfunction of various biomechanical components.
