Summary:Thus, some major-and high profile-campaigns by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union (HERE), Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees (UNITE!), and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW), the Laborer's International, and the Teamsters, involve recent immigrant workers. But, the labor movement must grapple with them if it is to help shape an enlightened immigration policy that manages future flows, protects the rights of new immigrants, and serves the long-term interest of all workers in the United States.
