Summary:A 56-year-old man was found to have a very large lower abdominal mass. The large tumor occupied the pelvic cavity. The mucosa of the rectum and the sigmoid colon was compressed by the tumor. Percutaneous needle biopsy was performed ; SFT was suspected. An operation was performed in June, 2004. The tumor was very large and occupied the pelvis. The tumor could be dissected from the pelvis and was resected via a low anterior resection. It was suspected that it had grown in the mesenterium of the rectum and the sigmoid colon. On pathology, a diagnosis of SFT, with a low-grade malignancy was made ; the diameter of the SFT was 25 cm. The patient's postoperative course was good. Currently, he is healthy, and he has no signs of recurrence 7 years after the operation.
