Summary: | Metallic chromium is dissolved in hydrochloric acid and passed through an anion-exchange resinfor adsorption of copper and zinc. The adsorbed metals are eluted with nitric acid. Since the reducing wave of zinc is superimposed with that of chromium in the presence of residual chromium, a complete separation can be obtained by extraction with dithizone. The dithizone solution is decomposed with nitric acid and perchloric acid, and copper and zinc are determined from the polarogram, using ammonium chloride-sodium sulfate supporting electrolyte. Some investigations were also carried out for the selecting of supporting electrolytes suitable to the simultaneous determination of copper and zinc, and other conditions. |
