Summary:This article is based on field research conducted in southern Kemerovo Oblast and Altai Krai and examines the problems and prospects for structural changes in these regions. Several models for the revitalization of old industrial settlements (the cities of Novokuznetsk and Biysk, and the urban locality of Sheregesh) are specified on the basis of the collected data. The models represent the particular interaction of the territory's government, business, and scientific complexes. Prescriptions for facilitating the revitalization process are formulated and defended within the framework of these models.
