Summary:Metabolic disorders associated with nutritional  deficiency/imbalance are common in various psychiatric disorders,  including depression, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, dementia,  and eating disorders. Malnutrition degrees vary in a wide range –  from borderline minerals, vitamins, micronutrients deficiency/imbalance to severe metabolic disorders and cachexia.  We present a review of up-to-date publications, meta-analyses, and  systematic reviews on the subject. The need to introduce  supplemental nutrition as an additional component of a therapeutic  strategy for various mental disorders is discussed. The potential of using the products of the Fresubin line is analyzed in detail.
