Single Crystal X-Ray Diffraction Study of Indium(III) and Gallium(III) Fluoride Complexes MIIAF5·7H2O (M = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd; A = In, Ga)

Crystal structures of CuInF 5 ·7H 2 O and ZnGaF 5 ·7H 2 O are determined. They are composed of centrosymmetric octahedral complex [Cu(1)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ and [Cu(2)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ ([Zn(1)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ and [Zn(2)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ respectively) cations and two types of centrosymmetric octahedral complex [In...

Summary:Crystal structures of CuInF 5 ·7H 2 O and ZnGaF 5 ·7H 2 O are determined. They are composed of centrosymmetric octahedral complex [Cu(1)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ and [Cu(2)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ ([Zn(1)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ and [Zn(2)(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ respectively) cations and two types of centrosymmetric octahedral complex [In(1)F 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] – and [In(2)F 6 ] 3– ([Ga(1)F 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] – and [Ga(2)F 6 ] 3– respectively) anions. Coordinated H 2 O molecules in the complex [In(1)F 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] – and [Ga(1)F 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] – anions are in trans -positions. Branched systems of O–H...F and O–H...O hydrogen bonds organize the structural elements of the studied compounds into a three-dimensional framework. The unit cell parameters of some complex fluorides M II AF 5 ·7H 2 O (M = Co, Ni, Cu, Cd; A = In, Ga) are determined by X-ray diffraction of polycrystals and two isostructural series are identified.
