Summary:Type A, B and E botulinum neurotoxins inhibited muscle twitches elicited indirectly in the mouse diaphragm preparations in vitro. Hot water extract of black tea given a mixture with each botulinum toxin protected the inhibitory effect of the toxin. Roasted tea extract was also effective, but not green tea, oolong tea, tannic acid, catechins and theaflavins. Extracted thearubigins were effective as such specific antidotes.
