Summary:Fifty cases of intertrochanteric fracture were treated operatively. Nineteen cases were treated using Ender's intramedullary nails and 31 cases using compression hip screws. Those fractures fixed with Ender's nails tended to develop varus deformity, pain at the insertion area of the nails and distal migration of the nails at the knee. Each fracture was classified according to classification of Evans. Good results were obtained in 64% of stable type and 73.3% of unstable type using compression hip screws, and in 33.3% of stable type and 20% of unstable type useing Ender's nails.
