Summary:Waste is one of the most pressing problem faced by the whole world. Waste management is increasingly becoming a challenging task for the respective authorities, due to increasing waste quantities, changing waste composition, decreasing land availability for waste disposal sites and increasing awareness about the environmental risk associated with the waste management facilities. Statistical studies carried out on waste management have been reviewed, in this article. Total 38 publications have been taken for review. The review shows that the majority of studies of waste management use linear programming problem approach and also providing and describing the relationship between various problems. Very few attempts have been made for applied aspects of waste management contents. A review of literature on waste management is presented, with brief method of the study and analysis used for the determination of the required results. The objective of this review paper is to present an updated statistical study of the most relevant problems on waste management. A bibliographical account and theme wise review of various past publications have been also provided in this paper.
