ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of 5,6-Disubstituted Thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidines from 4-Chloropyrimidines

The synthesis of thieno[2,3‐d]pyrimidines like (V) and (XII) involves introduction of a carbonyl group at position 5 of the pyrimidine ring, sulfuration at position 6, and subsequent cyclocondensation with alkyl bromides.
