CBD Synthesis and Characterization of CdSe Nanostructured Thin Films

CdSe thin films were deposited on glass substrates by a chemical bath deposition (CBD) in the system cadmium nitrite tetrahydrate (Cd(NO 3 ) 2 .4H 2 O)-selenourea [SeC(NH 2 ) 2 ]-glycine-pH buffer of borate. According to the processing conditions established in a L9 Taguchi experimental design, nine...

Summary:CdSe thin films were deposited on glass substrates by a chemical bath deposition (CBD) in the system cadmium nitrite tetrahydrate (Cd(NO 3 ) 2 .4H 2 O)-selenourea [SeC(NH 2 ) 2 ]-glycine-pH buffer of borate. According to the processing conditions established in a L9 Taguchi experimental design, nine different films were obtained. CdSe nanostructured thin films with particle sizes in the range of 100-200 nm show band gap values upper than 1.23 eV (CdSe theoretical band gap) and the main photoluminescence emission peak is in the range of 600 to 800 nm. CBD-CdSe nanostructured thin films with the aforementioned characteristics can find potential applications as materials for optical window and infrared sensors.
