(−)-Phalarine, a furanobisindole alkaloid from Phalariscoerulescens

Chemical examination of Phalaris coerulescens revealed a new alkaloid, phalarine.Extensive mass spectrometric and NMR spectroscopic examination of phalarine and itsmonoacetyl and monomethyl derivatives indicated a novel furano bisindole structure.
