Nuclear charge dispersion in the fission of 237Np by protons of medium energy

Independent formation cross-sections of 129Cs, 130Cs, 131Cs, 132Cs, 134 m Cs, 134 g Cs, 135 m Cs and 136Cs and the cumulative formation of 140Ba in the fission of 237Np by protons of energies 20–85 MeV have been determined. The most probable charges, Z p , at the various bombarding energies agree wi...

Summary:Independent formation cross-sections of 129Cs, 130Cs, 131Cs, 132Cs, 134 m Cs, 134 g Cs, 135 m Cs and 136Cs and the cumulative formation of 140Ba in the fission of 237Np by protons of energies 20–85 MeV have been determined. The most probable charges, Z p , at the various bombarding energies agree with predictions made. No correlation with nuclear charge postulates was found. An estimate has been made of the numbers of neutrons emitted at various bombarding energies.
