Summary:A multi-residue alkaloid screen using GC/MS was used to detect and alkaloids in the rumen, abomasal, small intestine and cecal contents of cattle from Switzerland. Deltamine, deltaline, delpheline and lycoctonine were recorded from the rumen, abomasal, small intestine and cecal contents, whereas aconitine was positively identified in the rumen and abomasal contents of the cattle. Notes are presented on the toxicity of the alkaloids from both plants are presented.
