Summary:A full text document delivery system, UMI's Pro-Quest® Power Pages, quickly became popular with our undergraduates. Early observations by some library staff seemed to indicate that users were more concerned with quick access to material than the relevance of the material to their research. Our concerns about the possible negative consequences of over-reliance upon this and similar systems led us to investigate. We gathered usage data and distributed a survey to users. We explored our misgivings and tried to understand user needs and undergraduate affinity for such electronic resources.
