Summary:Purpose – Cross-cultural adjustment is crucial for the success of employees in a different cultural environment. Cultural intelligence is believed to be a skill that can enhance adjustment during cross-cultural interactions. Cross-cultural adjustment is crucial for the success of employees in a different cultural environment. This study aimed to determine the relationship between cross-cultural adjustment and cultural intelligence by examining a sample of employees working in Kosovo with a foreign country of origin. Design/methodology/approach - This study is quantitative in terms of its methodology. The empirical data comes from a survey of foreign employees living in Kosovo and working in private businesses from thirteen types (sectors) of institutions. Results – The study results show that dimensions of cultural adjustment are associated with dimensions of cultural intelligence. Therefore, this study confirms the effect of cultural intelligence domains on the crosscultural adjustment of employees working in a foreign country. Discussion – In recognition of the importance of cross-cultural adjustment for foreign employee’s performance, we suggest organizations and employees invest in training and other efforts like visits to the new duty country before starting work, increasing the cultural intelligence components of a person, and enhancing cross-cultural adjustment.
