Summary:Osseodensification offers a novel method for implant drilling that significantly enhances primary stability. This innovative technique involves the utilization of specialized drills, which operate in a counter-clockwise direction at the osteotomy site. By promoting bone self-compaction, osseodensification facilitates auto-grafting during implant placement, leading to improved implant success rates and clinical outcomes. A 46-year-old systemically healthy patient applied to the clinic with the complaint of missing teeth. After clinical and radiological examinations, it was observed that the patient had an insufficient crest height in the maxillary posterior region. It was decided to perform the implants after the sinus lifting procedure. Due to the low bone density in the grafted areas, osseodensification drilling protocols were preferred instead of traditional drilling protocols. Versah kit with densification drills was preferred for this procedure. Osseodensification drilling protocols create a strong bone layer along the osteotomy walls and improve local bone quality. Versah kit with densification drills operates by rotating at high speed in a reverse, non-cutting direction while being externally irrigated. This technique enhances implant stability in areas with low bone density, such as grafted maxillary sinus. This technique is also utilized in crestal sinus lifting operations to increase the amount of vertical bone gain. The utilization of osseodensification drilling presents a significant advancement in implant dentistry. This innovative technique provides improved patient outcomes compared to conventional methods. Further studies and clinical trials are warranted to validate the long-term success and benefits of osseodensification procedures.
