Summary: | Roberson et al share that they were invited to submit a manuscript for a symposium on "woke organizations" and did not anticipate the process that unfolded. They studied discrimination, published research on it, taught students about it, and advised organizations on addressing it. They have also contributed to articles on systemic inequities in organizational diversity, equity, and inclusion. Despite not expecting the publication experience they describe, they feel a responsibility to report it. In May 2021, they were contacted about a symposium proposal and submitted a brief proposal on performativity in diversity management. They were invited to submit a full paper and participated in a virtual paper workshop in Apr 2022. |
