Summary:Shopin and Dmitriev Certain investigate the filtration of aerosols of dispersed carbon in a bed of porous carbon granules. The objective of the investigation was to clarify the key elements of the technology and to optimize the parameters of aerosol filtration and regeneration of the dust-laden bed of porous carbon granules for a demonstration pilot unit of at least 10 000 m^sup 3^/h capacity. Experimental investigations of aerosol filtration in a bed of porous carbon granules were conducted on a pilot unit. A filter model of 3 dm^sup 2^ total area was equipped with an aerodynamic grid on which the substrate and filter bed were located. The substrate, which ensured a uniform distribution of gas flows throughout the volume of the filter bed, comprised carbon material granules of 3.5-5.0 mm size and 500, 580, and 870 g/dm^sup 3^ bulk density, produced on pilot units of the Institute from nanodispersed carbon (NDC) of class 500.
