Summary: | We report a case of buccal mucosal carcinoma with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) that remained in complete remission for a prolonged period. A 54-year-old man visited our clinic because of a mass in the right buccal mucosal region in July 1996. Because the oral mass was histopathologically confirmed to be squamous cell carcinoma and there was clinical evidence of metastasis to the cervical lymph nodes, we performed radical treatment for the oral cancer despite the presence of severe bone marrow suppression. During treatment, we prevented severe complications by the transfusion of platelet concentrate and administration of G-CSF. |
