Summary:Extract: This study concentrates on analyzing the predictive ability of alternate models of the livestock sector when demand equations are price dependent or quantity dependent. The methodology uses the same set of independent variables, except that the price and quantity of the commodity in question are switched according to the dependency form. Results indicate that the two dependency forms have different own and cross effects. This is contrary to the initial hypothesis that these two demand forms would produce similar structural outcomes and implies that further research in this area is needed.
