Summary:Information technology (IT) has grown rapidly over the past 30 years. The use of the Internet has increased dramatically in the last few years. For example, it is estimated that as of 1995, almost 29 million adults in the US had access to the Internet and 1.5 million have used it to make purchases. Because of the dramatic growth in Internet access, electronic commerce is becoming increasingly popular. Commercial World Wide Web sites increased from 370 in June 1994 to 50,000 in January 1996.
