Summary:While Adam Mickiewicz’s life has been closely examined, sometimes even scrupulously, the knowledge about the poet’s ancestors and relatives is scanty. This refers to, inter alia, the Orzeszko family, from which the poet’s grandmother—Anna Majewska, née Orzeszko—descends. The paper presents, as based on information included in documents, the ancestral relations of this particular line of Mickiewicz’s family, and the situation of Mateusz and Anna Majewscy before their settlement on the property in Czombrów.
